My grandfather LeRoy A Dills, along with parents, visited his grandfather Harrison Dills in Warrensburg, Mo. a couple of times before Harrison died [Nov 3 1899].
My grandfather stayed with his uncle Howell whilst attending art college in Kansas City [1913-16] so he had seen the titles and stock besides antiques that his uncle kept after Harrison was buried [he brought his body back to Quincy, Illinois]. Nine years later, Howell traveled from home in Kansas City to attend the funeral of his step mother Francis E Gooding-Dills [1908].
George A Dills was the eldest son of Harrison and Laura Parsons-Dills [who died in 1865]. After military service in Cairo, Ill. George returned to Quincy but was ill from contaminated water. He was married to Anna W Battell briefly. He was born 1837 Quincy, Adams County, Illinois and died 1 March 1915 Los Angeles County, California having served as Postmaster for convalesing soldiers in Santa Monica. George A Dills

The Dils-Dilts family of Hunderdon Co, New Jersey began moving west during the American Revolution of 1776 including Harrison's great grandfather Phillip Dilts, who lived near Trenton NJ. Some of the Dilts fought with George Washington when they took over the British encampment nearby Flemington although Phillip bought land around Uniontown, Pa before purchasing land around Parkersburg, [Wood County WVa].
